Try green smoothies. You mix a handful of raw spinach in the blender with two apples, a cup of water and some ice. Blend it up and it's actually really delicious. You can't taste the spinach, it just tastes like apples and it has a really powerful laxative effect. Drink them 2-3 times a week and it will help a lot with the constipation because it has a ton of fiber and water. It also has lots of nutrients.
As far as the constipation goes, it's not normal to get constipated all the time. You need to look at your diet. I have gluten intolerance and chronic constipation was one of my symptoms. Dairy can also cause that.

Prunes are usually used, but with my kids I found the best cure for constipation was to fill the tub with water and baking soda and have them sit in it. For some reason, this always relaxed the muscles and they pooped within 20 minutes of getting in.

Use a fiber supplement like Citrucel. As far as food, corn or oranges work for me. Apples with skin on. Adding olive oil to your meals can help too. Try chocolate or yogurt covered raisins.
Also a good method to get things moving, try massaging your belly in a circular motion before you go or feel the need.

Try having something oily or add olive oil to your food as this can help soften the bowels. Or, if you are lactose intolerance, try having some milk mixed with water as this will also soften the elements and the water will keep you hydrated.
