Heaven or the Kingdom of God?

Sometimes Jesus spoke about heaven and sometimes about the Kingdom of God. It seems like there is a distinction between the two of them.

Anyone...?

The kingdom of heaven is a place. The kingdom of God is a way of doing things. Look at the comparisons, the kingdom of God was used when He was teaching finances and healing.

The term Kingdom of Heaven appears in the Gospel of Matthew. Elsewhere the term Kingdom of God is used. It is clear by comparing passages, they are synonymous.

The reason is the Gospel of Matthew was written mainly to Jews, whereas the other Gospels have a different target audience (Luke was more for cosmopolitan Greek readers; Mark more for Romans; John more universal in content.

Even today, Jews are not apt to speak of God, and you will often see this expressed by writing His Name G-d. Jews usually refer to Him as Adonai (Lord) or by the simple phrase "Hashem", which means literally "The Name".

Therefore Matthew also refrained from overuse of the word.

Well, I know the Bible talks about the Kingdom of God that is established in the Heavens (the supreme position where God resides) and that will reign over Earth. Therefore, Jesus said: " "This, then, is how you should pray:

    " 'Our Father in heaven,

    hallowed be your name,

    your kingdom come,

    your will be done

on earth as it is in heaven." --Mat. 6:9,10.

Heaven... is the exclusive abode of God ....one day His children hope to live with Him forever.

Kingdom of God ...is the reign of God....which includes heaven and earth and all the universe ...everything is subject to God's authority

Yes, he did. To me, God's kingdom is everything- the heavens and the earth. But heaven is just... heaven.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with David (formerly Chris). The two are synonymous.
