Deontological ethics is essentially duty-driven. Are there limits to this type of system? Does it have any advantages? Please be specific.

Ontology capitulates phylogeny, therefor deontology is limited by an absence, or dearth, of phylogeny. More seriously, a purely duty-driven system is mechanistic, static, and derivative, and is only flexible to the extent that the source of the duties is flexible. It often exhibits the fallacy ad verecundiam.
