Shouldn't Obama getting the Nobel Peace Prize be a good thing?
Normally, I would think AMERICANS should be PROUD instead of just finding more reasons to rip on him.

The real question is what did he do to deserve it??? Nada. Zilch. Zippo. If he were a man of honor, he'd refuse the prize. But he's not and he won't.

I believe he deserves the prize and I'm proud that we have a leader that has been an inspiration to people all across the globe. We seriously needed a president that could repair some of the damage done to our reputation during the past 8 years. The future belongs to those who THINK before acting. Diplomacy and tact, more often than not, in the long run open more doors than just dropping a hammer on those who are different from ourselves. The majority of the worlds people more readily respect that approach. It's a good thing.

put nationalism aside... but liberalism aside...put racial undertones and put them elsewhere. Then sit down and look at his record and compare it with both the other people in the running for the year and past winners. Its not a matter as much even that HE won it, but rather he won instead of someone more deserving. It devalues the prize for it to become a popularity contest. I know it happens with about every sport/government/etc. award ever made... but each time it happens its another ping at the heart of Alfred.
If he were a white conservative from europe who did the same things he wouldn't have won. He won solely on name and not on merit.
I'm proud and american won, and obama did nothing wrong (to the best of our knowledge) in obtaining it. Honestly its more the fault of the voters in having selected based on name recognition. I mean look what happened with the rio olympics. They thought obama being there killed thier chances. Thank god the olympic comm. didn't make the same mistake that the peace prize commity made.
That being said, if in 4-8 years obama had done something and showed he was willing to try... THEN he would possibly be deserving... but not now.

If he earned it I would take my hat off and try to be the first in line to thank him BUT this is a total sham--the man did squat.
There are several people that actually deserved it that were hit by Obama's bus. The man was nominated for this award after being in office for only 10 days.
Mark my words this award will not help Obama but cause a major uproar around the world.

But what did he do to deserve it?? Sure, he SAID he was going to do a lot of great things, but did he actually follow through? Him getting the Nobel Peace Prize is utterly ridiculous! As said before, the nomination period closed two weeks after his inauguration. What did he do that was so great? Let me think...I have no idea. Then, how about before the election? Care to take a look at his voting record anybody? The people he associated with?

It is a good thing.
The people who are pissed can't tell you who won any of the other awards or even what catergories (or how many) there are for the Nobel peace prize. They're just mad that Obama earned a peace prize and he doesn't wear their team colors.
Arafat got his for trying to end the war between the PLO and Israel. He made huge changes and advances towards the end of his life. It's a prestigious award and very meangiful.
Don't worry about the naysayers. They'll be mad no matter what Obama does.

I'm just bloody grateful nobody thought of awarding this piece of crap to any of our totally corrupt, self-serving, up the backside of Obama, British politicians. That would have the height of obscenity!

As a Translator, being in touch with important people around the World, I am not surprised. Finally we have a President again who is gaining respect for our country once again. Busch had totally destroyed that.
Congratulations Mr. President.

What's there to be proud of?
It's like your kid comes home with a smiley sticker, you ask "what did you get that for."
Oh, it's the "friendly helper" prize.. I got it for kicking Susie and pushing Freddy down the stairs.
