Why has Kofi Kingston been taking so much heat lately?
I know that the smarks think that everyone should be a heel, but honestly, what's so bad about Kofi? A few months ago he was incredbily popular but now, it seems like he's lost a ton of fans. What happened?
Please star so more answers will come,
Thanks

It's just the simple logic of the IWC really. We all know how the deluded IWC love cheering the heels and booing the faces. It's their idea of "cool". If you go against the storylines and characters, you’re different. It doesn't matter if the "smarks" start hating on a wrestler. They'll soon move on to another wrestler and start hating on them. I'm getting the feeling that if The Miz has a long title reign, he'll be the next target.
I'm still a fan of Kofi Kingston. Always have been and always will be. I was a fan right from the get-go. When they started airing vignettes of him, I thought this guy could be a cool addition to the ECW roster. And then I instantly became a fan of Kofi once he debuted. He really impressed me in his debut match. He was fast, explosive, athletic and full of life. And then he started teaming with CM Punk (who was ECW Champion) and began a rivalry with Shelton Benjamin. He went undefeated for months and was booked very strongly.
When I went to the SmackDown/ECW tapings in 2008, I met him before the show and he gave me his autograph. I spoke to him for a couple of minutes. A class act. Kingston was great with the fans. Always smiling. And then I saw him in action on ECW. He teamed up with CM Punk, Jimmy Wang Yang and Shannon Moore. He's even more agile and explosive in person. Kofi and Punk were mega over with the crowd. Keep in mind he was still new to the WWE.
Most of the hate clearly stems from his four month title reign. I don't see what was so bad about it. Just because the strap wasn't being thrown around like a hot potato, they start hating on him. Newsflash! WWE books his character. Kofi has no creative input. And plus, what was so terrible about his reign that made so many people turn on him?
He was defending the title regularly and put in some fantastic performances too. Kofi had a nice and short three-way rivalry with Jack Swagger and The Miz. He was great at Extreme Rules and he made The Miz look awesome (pardon the pun) at Breaking Point. Can anyone tell me what he's done wrong? That's right. Nothing. He's done nothing but raise the prestige of the US Championship and make many of RAW's midcard talent look strong.
Kofi Kingston's an amazing talent. He's the TOP mid-card superstar and he's making the rest of the division look gold. He's young, fast, charismatic, loyal and hardworking. He's a big asset to the WWE and one of my favourites on RAW right now. All the heat he takes should be taken with a grain of salt!

I think I can actually answer this one
A short while ago many fans were comlaining about Long Title reigns from John Cena and Triple H and I mean people were moaning and moaning, we then got into a trend of Title's changing at every PPV whether it was a World Title or Mid Card and this was a Bad thing.
What we all have to realise is that people are going to complain no matter what happens, If Kofi won The Title and lost it the following week people will complain, now because he had a good title reign people dont like it and will say he was a boring champ because he held it for more than 2 weeks, if in 6 months of holding the Title he defended it twise this would also be a problam, but tis time its because he defended it 1 or 2 times a month not just in 1 v 1 matches it was still not good enough as it was not giving oters an opportunity and pushing Kofi too much.
I myself am actually a fan of Kofi Kingston and feel his Title reign was great and interesting, but no matter what happens because he was a Champion of some kind he suddenly becomes a target for all the haters, it happened with Triple H, Randy Orton, CM Punk, John Cena and even Jeff Hardy and we all know how popular he was BEFORE he was Champion.
I hope this sort of answers your question.

Honestly, I Was Never The Biggest Kofi Kingston Fan, And Im Currently Not A Fan Of His. But, Unlike Other Users On Here, I Do Not Bash Him For No Reason. Even Though Im Not A Big Fan Of His, I Do Respect What He Does And What He Has Accomplished In His Time With WWE So Far. Kofi Kingston Is A Great Mid-Carder Wrestler Who Has Amazing Wrestling Ability, And I Always Acknowledge That When Im Talking About Him. He Certainly Will Be One Of The Wrestlers That You Will See Main Eventing Within The Next Few Years. Kofi Had A Good Tag Team Title Run With CM Punk And His Intercontinental Championship Reign Was Great For His Popularity. Personally I Think That WWE Has Made The Right Decision Of Giving This Guy So Many Opportunities In Pro Wrestling. Kofi Kingston Gets A Good Reaction From The Fans And Is One Of The Best Mid-Carders In WWE Today. I Do Not Know Why So Many People Bash On Him, I Don't Find Anything Wrong With The Guy, I Was Just Never A Fan Of His From The Beginning, But His Wrestling Talent Does Impress Me.
Great Question

I think the majority of WWE fans have gotten use to how recently; the titles have changed hands soo quickly. Kofi was US champion for what, 4 months or something. In all honesty it felt like ages. Cause all the other titles seems to move around after 1 month, 2 months. Kofi was a great champion and he was probably the most over mid carder. He held the title well, defended in great matches. He's what a champion should be. It was a shock when he lost, and that's how it should be too. I really think he's lost fans because he held the title for that length of time, even though it was just 4 months or so. I think it was 4 months.

I honestly don't know.
My guess is that Kofi Kingston's not "cool enough" for people who tend to gravitate towards heels for whatever reason. The main problem, though, is that Kofi Kingston didn't get any solid feuds that would uplift his gimmick and his title reign, and instead was just in matches as a fighting champion, which I guess bores people these days. Then again, Kofi Kingston is a face in the WWE, and it's almost a rule of thumb for the faces to be bland and vanilla.
I don't remember Kofi Kingston ever being really popular after his feud vs. Shelton Benjamin, but he still did have a decent following.

He held a title for... get this right this is just an awful long time... four months! How can he do such a thing. Kofi was booked to be the strongest mid carder on Raw which lets face it he is, for his level of experience and popularity. everyone turned on Kofi because he always found a way to win matches not in his favor... but he's the champion and that's what champions do, find a way to win. The hate comes from spoilt brats that think the titles should be bounced around so everyone deserving gets a turn... this is wrestling not a under 7's game of football(soccer) where you want everyone to get a touch. Its a wrestling title and should be around the waist of the person who is right for the title... Kofi Kingston is the most over mid carder of the moment and should be a strongly booked singles champion, that's how his career moves on. Try explaining that to the sheep though.

I honestly can't find a reason to dislike Kofi Kingston.
People might hate him because he's a face. Heels are generally much more appreciated and liked overall while the faces are despised by most. Kofi Kingston is a face and therefore, as logic goes in the WS, he is disliked. Many people seem to prefer wrestlers like The Miz over Kofi Kingston as well. Some people just naturally dislike him or dislike his gimmick. Some don't like him because all he does is wrestle. He rarely gets on the mic and I've heard fans say that Kofi sucks because he doesn't talk.
Kofi Kingston has been booked correctly and he doesn't look weak. Kofi Kingston has been carrying the mid card division on Raw. Kofi Kingston has been making the US championship actually mean something. Kofi Kingston has been defending his championship against other great talent such as The Miz, Carlito, Jack Swagger, and others. Kofi Kingston has had successful title defenses and has made the US championship look more prestigious in the process.
Kofi Kingston is also a great wrestler in my opinion. He gets the fan reaction he needs in his matches and his popularity is continuously rising. Kofi Kingston's gimmick and his character is annoying to several people, but there's no doubting his ability. Kofi Kingston has made challengers look legitimate against him. Let's take the Miz for example. At Breaking Point Kofi Kingston and Miz had an impressive match that really made both superstars shine. The Miz looked great in the ring because of how Kofi was getting him over. Kofi Kingston made Miz look like a great wrestler that night. Kofi Kingston sold Miz's moves well and almost made fans think that Miz would pull out the win.
Kofi Kingston has also been putting on great performances consistently. It's not often that we see Kofi Kingston putting horrible matches. The mid card of Raw has been having the best matches in the entire brand and I feel that Kofi is a major reason for the success of Raw's mid card. Most of Raw's mid cards has Kofi Kingston and his matches have been great so far. WWE also made Kofi Kingston look strong because Kofi has been defending his championship in 6 pack challenges and other matches that feature multiple opponents.

Idk, I'm still a big fan of his. I really haven't seen too much bashing of Kofi Kingston. I'm only on here for about an hour a so a day so maybe I'm just missing it. Kofi is awesome and I dont see a reason why anyone would hate on him.
And as far as Kofi becoming a heel, that would be absolutely terrible! He is one of the few true faces out there and turning him heel would turn out even worse then Shelton Benjamins heels turn.
Edit: The guy right below me makes a great point! Thats exactly what happens. How stupid. I guaruntee the same thing happens to Dolph Ziggler and John Morrison when they finally become champions. Those 2 are like gods on Y!A. Within 2 months of being champions they'll get hated on too. Stupid people.

It is because he was United States champion for so long. Every time he retained his title after months and months of winning, people started complaining and wanted to see either Swagger or Miz as U.S champion, and they did, Miz is the new United States champion. As for losing his fans I think they feel his character is geing stale, which is normal for a face to get stale. Look at Chris Jericho, he is an awesome heel and hasn't become stale, but when he returned as face only weeks later he started getting almost no fan reaction. I think it's the way WWe books faces, they book them in a way where they are always doing the same thing smiling at the fans, people start getting bored and that is why they prefer heels. Heels don't get stale like faces because they keep things exciting and don't do the same things to win matches every week. But of course smarks can't expect EVERY wrestler to be a heel, it just wouldn't work. There has to be be faces to feud with the heels.

Honestly, Kofi Kingston gets himself frustrated about the Miz captured the United States Champion. You know on Bragging Rings, He will get himself a rematch to win it for a second time. But Kofi Kingston should not turn himself into the heel.
