Name one thing that the Medical Insurance Industry contributes to health care to justify its profits.?

Their profits are huge. What do they contribute in the form of health care?

I see nothing.

Personally I can't stand health insurance companies. I don't mind any company making a profit, as long as it isn't at the expense of my health and that of my family. We pay $18,820 a yr just in premiums alone, yet BC BS continue to deny coverage for all sorts of things. I am sick to death of paying these fee's and yet being told 'no' all the time.

You ask what they have contributed in the form of health care...they haven't contributed one single thing! They are not in the business of health care, they are in the business of butt f*cking their clients at every given opportunity. How do you think they make such huge profits? It is by charging sky high premiums, then denying claims every chance they get.

I for one want a government option. Lord knows it couldn't be more expensive. They can't say no more than BC BS do now. Plus it will help others who need affordable access to health care.

    I hate our current system!

You could always go without health insurance. That way you would be assured they wouldn't make any profit from you. Just pay the medical bills yourself. The Democratic Congress will soon change that though. An individual who does not buy health insurance under the new plan would be fine $1500.00. If they don't pay the fine they get a choice. One year in jail or an additional $25,000.00 dollar fine.

A lower cost service than Medicare and the VA system.

They run at just under $15K per beneficiary by their own numbers and fail to control waste and fraud.

That comes out to 1250 per month without any profit and the doctors don't want Medicaid patients because they pay the least per event.

Since when do private corporations have to "justify" their profits? You libs are warped. As long as they are not breaking the law and cooking the books - they do not have to justify making money.

without my insurance company, I would have spent over $10K in the last 7 months on prenatal care. But because I carry insurance, I've spent less than $1000 out of pocket.

Um, they pay for the care of their subscribers when they need it. Yes, they actually make it possible for people to get very expensive treatment that they may not otherwise be able to afford..

They decrease the surplus population, lowering eventual Medicare costs.
