DISGUSTING boyfriend's room?

My boyfriend and I have been together for about 2 years now, and he has always had a messy room.

It's recently become unbearable. Everytime I go in his room, he has half eaten food, soda cans, garbage, and dirty laundry everywhere. His PILLOWS ARE GROWING MOLD for pete's sake.

I tell him what a turn off it is, as this is the only room we can fool around in.

What do I need to do to get him to clean up??! The last thing I want to do is lecture him about his filthy room, but it's insane to live like that.

Update:

If I even attempt to clean up the room for him, he gets really upset!! And I shouldn't have to clean up HIS room, he's 22 he can do it himself!

The maid idea would work if his parents and brother weren't also in the house.. ahaah!

If you have a serious problem with it, help him do it instead of complaining about it. Complaining doesn't get anything done.

you have a bf so somebody must be able to stick around with your pickiness. Do you think he might move in? Do you think he might help you out (a contracted loan0 untill you get another renter. By the way, she is not a roommate. That renter, do you have a contract with them? If not you should have. And you should have a friend in there because if you rent out a room you might be breaking a city or county ordinance since your home is not on commercial property and you could be fined. Depending on which state you live in you might not be able to get her out of there if she states she's done some housework so I'd suggest you first be nice and ask her to leave. When you rent a room or even an apartment you cannot tell a person how to live. Sure you can be grossed out if you want but as far as renting goes that's your own personal problem. if that person though doesn't live up to your standards you CAN ask them to move. interview friends and relatives who you know need a place and who are EMPLOYED and have them sign an agreement with you as to how you want the place kept, what duties they could or should have, about late hours or friends, etc. When they leave you can use the deposit they gave to you to change your locks. In the present case you might have to have the place fogged with Raid and have a cleaner come in as well, maybe clean the rug as well...which you can take out of her deposit. Be sure to give her an itemized list of all you had to do after she left that equalled her deposit.

As a lot of people have said, yeah, he is a man - but living in filth, especially in a relationship, can literally make you feel disgusted about the other person.

When it comes down to the point where there's the mold and half eaten food, that is unacceptable. A few clothes strewn about the place and maybe a few random CD's lying about, sure, but not the point where he is probably living like a pig.

It's funny, because I'm being a hypocrite - my room, at this point, is in a similar state. But no mold or half eaten food!! That's the difference.

There's being a little messy, but then there's being unhygenic! That's the only thing he needs to change. Tell him that he can selotape his clothes to the ceiling and write satanic lyrics all over the walls to his hearts content, but just to clear out the food and be a little cleaner in that respect :-P

Um...tell him that you're not going over there to play with him until his room is clean. He'll clean it up real quick OR will at least allow you to clean it without pushing back.
