I cant get microphones to work when i plug them into my dell 1720 inspiron laptop, how do i fix this?

We have same laptop!!!

i remember i have same problem.

I simply download new microphone driver from the dell website.

The easiest fix involves these steps:

1) Right click on the "volume" icon on the bottom of the computer near the time.

2) Select "Open Volume Control".

3) Check that the "Mic In Volume" is not on mute and that the volume is up.
