Winamp/Milkdrop 2 question?

I'd like to have Milkdrop 2 (the great winamp visualization program) to respond not to a music file but to something coming either from youtube or maybe even from an audio input like a microphone. is it possible for winamp to handle an input like this (perhaps via a general reading of whatever sound is coming out of the computer), and then have milkdrop react in the same way it would to an mp3 file.

difficult question i know. thanks for any help.

Update:

I typed ://linein, it worked for a split second, then something popped up and said "end of playback". any ideas?

Update 2:

also, does it work with ://lineout? i'd like to have it react to something coming from a youtube video or something if possible. thanks dude.

Update 3:

i found the problem. i was typing ://linein, it's actually linein://

thanks dude.

Open the file menu, choose 'Play URL'. Type ://linein into the box - that's all there is to it. Then it'll react to whatever signal is fed into it through the line in socket. Quite useful for example if you wanted to use it on a projector at a party and have it connected to the DJ's mixer.

I just tried it on mine and it works fine. I really don't know about any other inputs, line out is an output. Maybe it's worth checking in your computer's sounds properties to make sure that the line input socket isn't disabled. Other than that you could try reinstalling your sound drivers and Winamp.

Edit: You're right, sorry about that - I haven't used this option for a long time. There's a plugin to give you more options in the plugin section of Winamp's preferences page. You can get it here, I'm just giving it a try now: http://www.winamp.com/plugins/search/linein
