With all due respect to the other posters, I don't discourage "cutesy names', and this is why: It really depends on your target audience. I'm a Stay At Home Mom and planned mostly doing children and family portraits, so I chose a cute name for my business and have gotten a LOT of repeat business. I work way more than my competition that has been in the business for years because ultimately when families (in this economy) look at YourNamePhotography, they immediately think "Expensive" and chances are they won't even check out your website. Having a cutesy name for a business is more welcoming to potential clients than the uber professional YourNamePhotography. If you want to mostly do serious portraits and weddings, I would stick with Yournamephotography. But if you want your clients to be mostly families (and repeat business), I would go with a friendlier, less intimidating name. I did so incredibly well that I actually started a second website with MyNamePhotography for my higher end, more serious work. I actually know a couple that have a successful high-end business on a name that means something like stunning beauty in another language. They currently travel internationally every month for weddings. Try combining some nice words to create your business name, or something unique. I hope this helped!

Agree with KK on this. Frankly now, whenever a new business has ever opened in your area, did you ever know of them going on internet forums asking for names? How confident would YOU feel in a business that could not even come up with their own name?

Also, your question is hardly the only one of it's kind here. People who have never been in business in their life and have no business skill, knowledge, or experience for some reason think that if they have a camera they can all of a sudden be in business. Instead of asking other people about names, you should consider taking business courses in a local college. Otherwise, you chances of success are very slim.

Now this may not apply to you, Maybe you have a business major and are a business whiz. Fine, there are still thousands of photographers who have been in business for years who are having a very hard time in this day of everyone and their grandmother having a digital camera and all of a sudden thinking they are professionals.

Good luck to you in your endeavors, but frankly, it just does not speak too well of your business decisions and skill if you have to have someone else tell you what to name your business.

My two cents of reality, not expecting you to like it.

If you cannot even come up with a creative name for your business how do expect to properly serve your clients?
