18" = 1.5'. One tile is 1.5 x 1.5, or 2.25 sq. ft. Divide 500 by 2.25, which gives you 222.22, or 223 tiles. Add 10% for cuts and waste, so you will need 245 tiles. Hope this helps.

At least 223.
18" = 1.5'
1.5' x 1.5' = 2.25ft^2
500ft^2 / 2.25ft^2 = 222.2.
But it really depends on a number of things. How far apart the tiles are and the dimensions of the room and how many tiles you have to cut.
I would get about 250 to start.

1 pc = 2.25 sf
500 sf = 222.22 pcs
Do not forget to order extra. 5%-10% is recommended.
