2005 Dodge Dakota 4WD problem?

My Dakota is shifting in and out of 4 wheel drive low. Even while it is parked you can hear the solenoid engaging and disengaging. I have tried just unplugging the selector knob in the cab but it is still doing it just no where as frequntly. Any suggestions on where or what to look at would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
