you should be able to start it by pressing "esc" or enter key. in some laptops you need to press power key once. however it all depends on the settings. how you have set up for PC? to set it up
right click on desktop > properties > Screen saver > Power > Advanced.
In advanced, you will find power buttons. there are 3 options and select what you want to do. in most cases, when power button is press, the default selection will be turn off. change this to "ask me what to do". this will allow you to start your pc from standby mode.
for hybernation:
right click on desktop > properties > Screen saver > Power > Hybernate. Click on enable hybernation. it will give some warning as to how much space required and so. accept it and click ok. now you can see hpernate option under "shut down menu".
pls be careful while using hybernate. its good utility but requires lot of hard disk space depending on softwares installed and also may slow down your PC.
