I am born in houston and raised in midland and dallas.
The Texas hot dog is not from Texas.
But if you ask 500 Texans you will get 500 answers. Some sort of hot sauce or chili is what's commonly found on a hot dog of this nature. I prefer chili and raw onions.

Well, I'm from Texas, but I don't know what I would specify as a Texas hot dog, but if I did, it would probably be like this:
The Texas hot dog, Texas chili dog, Texas hot, or Texas wiener is a hot dog with chili or hot sauce.
The Texas weiner was created in Paterson, NJ.[1] [2] "Texas" reference is to the chili sauce used on the dogs, which actually has a stronger Greek cuisine influence due to the ethnicity of the cooks who invented it. It is considered a unique regional hot dog style. From its origin, the invention spread to the Pennsylvania cities of Scranton, Altoona and Philadelphia[3]. Altoona's original Texas Hot Dogs shop is still open today, although it has moved from its original location. The chain has also expanded into other parts of the county.
