Cox Plate - Which 3 year old should get in and who is going to win.?

And a few other questions.

So first, we have three 3 year olds with question marks over who should get into the race. Onemorenomore, So You Think or Carrara?

Next, is Whobegotyou the deserved favourite, can he really run out a hard 2040m?

And of course who do you think will win?

Will post my thoughts later.

Update:

To bestinthebusiness - This lot of 3 year olds are some of the best yet, there are no out there champions like Miss Finland or Sam but more of a level playing field with alot of top quality horses.

Unfortunately Extra Zero won't get in, he is to far back. I think So You Think will be right up there if he gets in. He is a swopper and Caulfield was very leader biased on Guineas day. I think this race suits him perfectly. Love the High Chaparral's.

Also El Segundo, Speed Gifted and Heart Of Dreams. Speed Gifted's turn of foot is lethal and we know he can win no matter what the track is.

Whobegotyou cannot and will not win, as he cannot run out a strong cox plate 2040 with the pressure on the whole trip. He is by Street Cry who hasn't sired a thing that has won past 2000m let alone a cox plate 2040m. The only thing that could save him is his dam who is by Carnegie.

Update 2:

I also love Rangi and am a big fan of Chris Waller. Was supposed to go out to Rosehill meet him when I was in Sydney recently but I was sick and couldn't go. It really annoyed me cause I was sooo looking forward to meeting him and seeing some of his amasing horses, including Rangi and Daneleigh.

Update 3:

All I can say is do not underestimate So

You Think. I seem to be the only person here who finds this lot of 3 year olds amasing and some of the best ever.

Update 4:

I'll be at the races at Gympie in Queensland, much different to The Valley.

I can't believe Patinack are still racing Onemorenomore, they aren't going to get anywhere with him until they fix his relaxation and running straight problems.

Update 5:

I'm not really getting my point through to anyone am I?

Um....I don't think any 3YO will impact the Cox Plate this year.

But does anyone remember Savabeel? He was not a glamour 3YO by any stretch, and yet he won.

I like derby type 3YO's in the Cox Plate, which Onemorenomore would best fits that bill, but he won't run, the only 3YO's that will run will be So You Think And Manhattan Rain. Do either have any chance? Yeah sure but will I be backing any of them? Not for a win anyway.

Of those two Manhattan Rain has a place chance because of the way he races and the fact that Gai has him set for this race simply to try and make him even more ridiculously valuable

I've already had my bet on the Plate, I saw $26 for Heart Of Dreams about a month back and couldn't resist.

My only worry about Heart Of Dreams is his full brother Rightfully Yours is tested at a mere 1400m rather then a mile or 2000m. But Mick Price is an extremely gift horse trainer so I have faith in his opinion.

I really think Heart Of Dreams and Whobe have a lot of class on their other rivals. And those people saying Whobe can't run a strong 2040m.........I said the exact thing after the Yalumba but that was more because my pride was hurt ater backing Heart of Dreams.

Whobe will run a strong 2040m, have people already forgotten last years AAMI Vase win. But.....I've got a theory that his turn of foot that he possesses is deminshed when he get up to distance and therefore he does start to grind into his races more then surge as he does over a mile etc.

Are the current 3YO's as good as some of the glamour crops of 3YO's of the mid to late 90's? I believe one or two might well be but not as a whole.

Is anyone going to the Valley on Saturday? I'll be there front and centre ready for another installment of the greatest race in the Southern hemisphere. Good luck people.

So You Think was not given full rein and endured an unimaginative ride in the Guineas so I'd pay double to see him start on Saturday, his sectionals in comparison were very good and the step up to 2040m will benefit him greatly..

WBGY, well... came into serious contention last week with his win, can he go the distance, I dont think he's quite comparible with Octagonal but it suggests that this distance rise might not be an against factor in his chances, Occy didnt win beyond 1600m before the Cox..We'll soon find out :-)

The winner?....I cant head past Speed Gifted really, just a peculiar feeling....

Of the 3 three year olds you mentioned only Onemorenomore is a Group 1 winner, so is probably the most deserving. I backed So You Think for a win and had a saver on Carrara. Carrara's run was more pleasing for more personally and if I had to choose it would be Carrara. My money will be on Speed Gifted.

to all take note the best horse in the race wins. no 3yo can win this year OK what would happen if miss Finland raced this years 3yo colts or filly's she would kill them as would Samantha miss and they could not even win a cox plate. OK the best horses in the race are vision and power the wetter the better handy 2000 meter form coming good at right time 15/1 on uni tab now might be better odds race day.and the other horse if running is efficient racing better then ever i would like it to run but might be just aimed at the MELbourne cup but 26/1 is super can run over the top of them and on EL Segundo time waits for no man getting old fast but set for this race. what i will be backing for the win is vision and power and efficient if it runs but don't take the fixed odds yet till you know it's running and a sneaky bet on EL Segundo one of these three will win this years cox plate. your mate thebestinthebusiness sorry 3 year olds and whobegotyou not seasoned enough maybe next year hopefully.

A lot better 3yos have contested the cox plate and done nothing, personally they havn't got a chance.

Whobegotyou is a deserved favourite, but favs in this race

dont always measure up and the price of $2.40 in this field is

    ridiculous.

Loved the way Vision and Power hit the line last run,

Speed Gifted is the X factor.

i think the forgotten horse for the 3 year olds is extra zero, i thought his run was awesome, but yeh the only other one i see competitive is so you think, seems like the further the better for him

no definitely not, heart of dreams is the one to beat for sure in my opinion, he had the hardest rune, made up ground on whobegotyou and was strong on the line

heart of dreams for me, but cant forget el segundo, loves the track and distance and black piranha, wasnt suited by the heavy last start and he's as honest as they get plus speed gifted, and vision and power put in an eye catcher too, , cant wait for my favourite, Rangirangdoo, he is running in the patinack and should kill them, and Danleigh second up, Waller's stable is flying
