What is wrong with working an McDonald's?

When I read your question, I got on the defensive side until I read "the rest of the story". There is absolutely nothing wrong with working for McDonald's. You are supporting yourself. You are working your way through college. And, as you said, you are working with a lady who has to support her family of six!

People don't think before they speak.

You are showing initiative. And, you are making a good reference to put on your resume.

Good luck with your current job. And, good luck with your future endeavors. (I would want an employee like you working for me.)

I'm assuming this is high school. People make fun of people who they think are below them (not saying working at McDonald's makes you less of a person). The people who are making fun of the employee probably also make fun of band kids, kids with less money in their family, unfashionable kids, book worms, kids in clubs, etc. There is nothing wrong with working there. Like you said, she makes nearly $10 bucks an hour and I'm sure that's above minimum wage. The money is just as good as a doctor or lawyer! I think it's great that you ignore them and don't add to the conversation. But maybe sometime you should ask these people why they make fun of McD's workers.

Some people are just being jerks. There are people who like to look down on others either because they feel entitled to, feel others are inferior, or they are just mean, jealous or both.

Here is a big lesson for you, college student:

There comes a point in your life where you need to do what works for you, despite what other people think. The sooner you learn this lesson, the better. It will be very liberating.

Don't spend too much emotion on trying to figure why people do the strange things that they do. As the legendary Mr. Jim Rohn says "I would not sign up for THAT class." (smile)

It's sad that people make fun of fast food workers,but if McDonald's closed those ignorant customers would stave to death. They probably get mad at you because they can't cook at home.McDonald's is a good place to work,just ignore the mean people your job and bills are more important than them.I know how you feel i work at Walmart and deal with difficult people too.Keep up the good work.

I appreciate you working at Mcdonalds. I worked there to pay bills at one point in my life too. I didnt know people thought that way of us, oh well, i dont care cause i do what it takes to send my kids to school.

As long as it's not a life thing it's not bad at all. Better then dealing on the corner.
