what do you think about the hippocratic oath?

hippocratic oath states that a doctor should not harm their patients in any way.

what would you say about a terminally ill patient... a patient the doctor is actually harming by keeping he or she alive...do you believe the hippocratic oath should be broken in cases such as these?

    From the Hippocratic oath:

    original translation

I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone.

I will not give a lethal drug to anyone if I am asked, nor will I advise such a plan; and similarly I will not give a woman a pessary to cause an abortion.

But I will preserve the purity of my life and my arts

In the strictest sense any Dr, assisting in the death of a terminal patient even if the patient requested it. Or, any Dr. who recommended the day after pill, would be breaking the intent and pledge of the Oath.

If it were possible to regulate assisted suicide, Yes.

The hippocratic oath should never be broken. I don't agree with physician assisted suicide and if the person wants to die that bad they can commit suicide themselves. Cause a physician doing it is called murder.
