Question about taking xanax?

I have a very important question. I recently started taking xanax and my pulse has been slightly above what it usually is. Is this normal? I started taking the pill 2 days ago. It has been running around 110 bpm. Is that normal? or should i go to the emergency room. Thank you.

If your normal resting heart rate has increased to that after beginning Xanax, then no, that does not sound good.

But I don't know what your normal heart rate is. You should see your doctor to see if you are having an adverse affect to the medication.

If medical cost is an issue, call doctors office & leave a message with nurse to ask doctor if you need something like Metoprolol to decrease your heart rate. If so, can they call in the Rx for you. In the generic, it's very cheap. I believe around $4 at a Wal-Mart.

Your doctor would know better about your heart rate from your records. But 110 bpm sounds too fast. My doctor wants mine around 60-80 resting beats per minute.

Xanax is for anxiety which will sometimes affect heart rate. But your heart situation maybe unrelated.

You NEED follow up medical care in some form. Office call, visit, E.R., something.

Well what dose do you take. 0.25mg's or 2mg bars. Either way its probably a reaction to being nervous to the feeling of the drug. So id say take more and tell your MD that the sedative he/she prescribed you is working as a stimulant. Seeing as how XanaX if anything would lower your pulse rate and eventually if you took enough you would stop breathing.

Source(s): With no previous tolerance ive done 14 milligrams of XanaX in a 12 hour period and felt as though i could have died. My pulse was definetely below 50 bpm. I dont recomened anyone do this btw as i was literally 1mg away from dying in most likelyhood.
