Vista shutdown - how to do it?
Our two laptops have XP. Mi esposa's mom bought a laptop with Vista. I see MS decided NOT to put a "Turn Off Computer" in the menu for Vista. So far, all we've found is, a way to put the computer in some sort of hibernation. Is there a way to flat-out shutdown? (We've been powering off! Seems ungraceful. I'm P.O'ed at MS)

sure is a way, you'll see the power off button that you likely have been using to hibernate in the start menu. there is an arrow pointing to the right, click it and it will list further options. One of these is shut down. And don't worry, took me a little bit to find it too at first =D

Go to Start in the bottom left corner. Left click. In the right hand column at the very bottom is an arrow pointing to the right. Right click it.
You will see a menu that reads (from the top):
Switch User
Log Off
Lock
Restart
Sleep
ShutDown

Click the Start button and select Shut down from the menu that pops up. Don't see how they could have made it any simpler.
Or you could try this http://majorgeeks.com/Vista_Start_Menu_d5573.html
