New York City trip, should I go?
ok, so my band has a field trip planned to New York City. But im unsure if i should go or not. Cause lots of people aren't going because supposibly there is a terrorist issue going on there right now. I don't know if that is true or not. So if you could give me some info or some links on this subject that would really help me decide if i should go or not! Thnks a ton!!!

Those people are going to miss an incredibly fun time, I feel sorry for them.
Put it this way. I live here. I feel safe. I go to work every day like millions of others. This is a great city. If you pass it up because of the remote possibility of something happening that's even less likely than getting hit by lightning or getting in an accident at home, is that a regret you will have? If so, then take the trip. There are thousands of people whose round-the-clock job is to make sure that you don't have to worry about these things, and they're the absolute best at what they do.
The only "terrorist thing" that you might be referring to was a series of recent arrests of people who were putting together a plot. The authorities are gathering evidence, they're building their case. That's becoming old news. Remember what I said above? They're the absolute best at what they do. Certainly, a few weeks back, I admit that I had my eyes open a little wider than usual on my way to and from work while that story was developing. Now, it feels pretty normal. I'm more worried about just making sure I keep my eyes open for bad drivers as I cross the street, or making sure I don't spill hot coffee all over myself. Ya know, normal everyday worries.
Take your trip and enjoy it. I do exactly the same thing just about every day - well, not the tourist stuff, I'm working almost every day, but you get the idea.
I think people have a much different perception of this city when they haven't yet been here. Then they get here, and they find they're in a completely different place than what they imagined. You won't find a city cowering away in fear, you'll find people doing everyday things - going to work, shopping, eating, meeting with friends, having a good time.

Absolutely, you should go. New York may have a terrorist threat because the United Nations is there, it is one of the most populated places on the face of the planet, and it is a desirable place to hate as witnessed by the attacks of 9/11. However, it is one of the most visually interesting and exciting places that everyone should experience. As a creative person, you are bound to see or hear things that stretch you as a person. Go for it and don't worry about the threats. Life is full of uncertainty and if we base our decisions on threats, we will never make decisions.
There is an H1N1 flu covering the country and I am sure New York is now exception. If you get sick, some of the best hospitals are right there. Teaching ones where they can study you and educate future doctors.
Go for it. Look around at all times and be aware of your surroundings. Stay in a group or with another person. Take more money than you think you will need. During the day use your feet and the subway, then take a taxi at night.

YES!! We just got back from NYC about a month and I'm definitely going back! We were there for 3 days, but I think 5 days should be enough.
Get the 3+ day NewYorkPass, it will save you a lot of money!
Also, buy your NYC T-shirt ( 5 for 10.99) at Times SQ.
Around Empire State building, they have a lot of cheap NYc sounviers.
Hotel wise, book early. We stayed in Chinatown (Hotel 91) but it's clean and fairly cheap- though you can heard the subway at night, it didn;t bother us. Becareful of big and cheap hotel, I heard it's not clean,, The last thing you want is to bring home some bed bugs.
Broadway Show: If Wicked was too expensive ( it was for us), so we went to see 'Fuerza Bruta", we got a coupon online and pay half price =) so check online! .. Let put it this way, we will never forget this show.. we had a blast!
http://www.broadwaybox.com/ Ã for cheap shows!

LOL, '' ...there is a terrorist issue...'' i use the subway and live in the city everyday. I don't think 25 million people are crazy to stay hiding at home only because there is a ''terrorist issue''.Go to nyc its better than any other place in the world thats why everyone hate nyc.

My friend, don't let a bunch of locos (that's knuckleheads in Spanish) stop you and your band from going to New York City. This city is very safe, as long as there are people out there who are protecting the good freedom we have fought for the last 230 years.
Go to New York City and have a nice time. Don't let them think your affraid.
Good luck

New York is awesome. By all means go! I am going back in December. It is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been in. My daughter & I went last Spring and had the best time. We played tourist and visited the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, the Sanrio "Hello Kitty" store, Toys R US, the Empire State builiding and so much more. Have fun and let your worries go. You will be just fine.

Go. You are more likely to be struck by lightning at band practice at home than to be a victim of a terrorist attack in NYC.
People missing out on this trip are fools.
