I'm travelling to Australia, I want to work while I'm down there, what do I need?

I'm Canadian, and I going down for about 4-6 months ( I haven't bought my ticket yet..) but I plan on working when I'm there. I know I'll need a working visa, where would I apply for that?

If you're between 18 and 30, just go to our government immigration website and apply for a 12 month Working Holiday visa. That will allow you to travel and work at any kind of job with the only restriction that you can only work with each employer for up to 6 months. The visa will be granted very quickly and you have 12 months from then to enter the country for the first time. The cost is CAD$210.

Ozmaniac is right. You should also get a return ticket and have accommodation plans in Australia before you arrive. Australian Immigration can deny you clearance at the border if you don't have these things; no return ticket + no booked accommodation (for at least the first few days/week) can signify that you may pose a threat to immigration by overstaying your visa.
