Proper way to store dry beans?

I want to know if it will hurt dry beans to store them in a large glass container. I like to buy dry beans in bulk and store them in canning jars but I would like to use one large glass container to store the beans in and just take out what I need. I was wondering if all the air in the container would make the beans spoil.

You want to keep them dry. A glass jar works pretty well. A foodsaver (vacuum bagger) is another idea.

Any sturdy, sealable container that keeps out the moisture, mice and mealybugs will work. Different kinds of beans layered in a tall glass jar are also very pretty on the countertop--decorative and practical!
