The 'best' coffee is somewhat of a subjective question.

Preparation is very important. As a general rule, you should get freshly roasted beans and then grind them yourself right before you brew the coffee. A french press will make better tasting coffee than a standard automatic drip machine.

As for types of coffee, you should try different kinds. Dark roasts have a very robust flavor (or burnt if you go to an unnamed mega coffee chain), while lighter roasts can be more acidic and floral. Blends typically mix light and dark roast beans to get the best of both worlds.

There are a ton of different kinds of beans out there and it's fun to try as many as possible. Some are extremely expensive, like good Hawaiian Kona or Jamaican Blue Mountain.

Bottom line: what's best for you might not be best for others. If you avoid pre-ground, cheap coffee, you should be fine.

The best coffee for the money hands down is "Cafe La Semeuse".

This coffee tastes better then the best coffee's in the world IE Jamaican Blue or Kona AA at a fraction of the price.

It's the official coffee of the James Baird House and has won the most prestigious blind tastings.

It is roasted 3,000 ft up which keeps the beans from burning.

Roasted in Switzerland by the Bloch family.

    You would want the "Classique"

( pink label) that's the regular coffee. It comes ground or whole bean.

Community Coffee - Dark Roast. It is a Louisiana product and if your local stores don't carry it, you can order it from their web site.
