New Laptop! Need some help here.?

The Question is, actuallly this a friends of mine, and helping him get started on it, he had it special made to what he needs to use it for. I can not get Adobe reader, for video play like youtube and other video prodgrams to run on it, down load the softwear run vide , but will not download, it is like some program, maybe a Security feature might be keeping it from downloading. The anti virus, and firewall protection is thru CA Security, a protection on this laptop that I doint know much about. Can anyone help with this situation, he would love to be able to wach video and download things, which some program is keeping it from happening.
