Why do people think Floyd Mayweather Jr vs Manny Pacquio will be such a great fight?

I think the notion has slowed since Mayweather beat Marquez. When Mayweather was still retired, everyone was talking up Pacquiao to beat Mayweather. It seemed instantly after Mayweather destroy Marquez, Pacquiao's size became much more of a factor then it was before. I think Mayweather beats Pacquiao at any weight, Marquez wasn't beaten by Mayweather's size, but by Mayweather's skill. The skill of Mayweather will be Pacquiao's down fall not the size.

Marquez did not carry his speed and power when he moved up in weight. Simple as that. Floyd was just laughing off Marquez's punches. Pacquiao may have made moving up in weight look so easy but it is not. I wish that Marquez had some tune-up fights before his fight with PBF. Hell, being the smaller and lighter fighter, Marquez should be the one dancing around but i suppose his counter-puncher style - feet on the ground and wait for your opponent's attack - is so ingrained to him that he wasnt able to adjust. That wont work against a naturally fast fighter in both hand speed and foot speed like Floyd Mayweather. Combine that with his height, weight, youth and reach advantages and yes, it becomes a mismatch especially since Mayweather did not even made the catch weight.

Remember, Pac and Marquez beat the cråp out of each other at their optimal weights at featherweight.

Unlike Marquez though, Pac carried his speed and power moving up to welterweight, so if he and Floyd fought, it would be far more interesting. I doubt Floyd would taunt Pacquaio with a free punch.

I for one think that Manny Pacquiao can match Floyd in reflexes, hand-speed and footwork and the real tossup here is Floyd's defensive skills against Manny's offensive skills. Manny throws punches from weird angles and packs serious power. Floyd would have to be extra careful. Floyd's stick and move style of attack would frustrate the Pac-man. He would have to be more focused and stick to his game plan.

Whoever slows first between the two will lose. Could Floyd tire Pacquiao long before the Pacman could break his body and steal his quickness?

Pacquiao CAN beat Mayweather and Mayweather CAN beat Pacquiao.

I agree, when they do fight and PBF takes him out, everyone will say he was too small. They will forget he beat a 160 lb Oscar, a 148 lb Hatton, and a 155 lb Cotto. (Right, if he doesn't beat Cotto the fight won't happen).

I think what makes it so interesting is the other fighter has the perceived style to beat the other. PBF will be fighting a fighter who is just as fast as him and is very aggressive. The type of fighter that gives PBF problems. Pacman will be fighting a fighter that is the best counter puncher he has ever seen. If he is reckless he will get tagged. PBF is the type of fighter that give Pacman trouble.

I think PBF in a decision. Not close.

I do believe many will say that Pacquiao was too small, if Mayweather beats him. Anyway, their fighting styles are so contrast to each other, they're both young and on top. That alone make for an interesting, if not great fight. Also, win, lose or draw, when have a fight that involved Pacquiao ever been boring?

The way Mayweather beat Marquez, he would mop Pacquio. To top that off, Mayweather didn't even look that good in that fight. People forget, Marquez called out PBF not the other way around. Cotto gets a pass against Pacquio and it's ok. I want Cotto to win and believe he will. Believe it's just to get people to watch the fight. I want to see PBF mop Cotto, knock him out and rub it in Mosley face.

I feel it has the potential to be a solid fight, not so much a great fight. Floyd will be on the defensive, Pacquiao on the offensive. Floyd using check hooks and jabs, Pacquiao his straight lefts and right hooks. If Mayweather can stay outside, he has a chance to win, but Pac will rush on inside and try to score using combos.

didn't manny destroy oscar and mayweather have a split decision against oscar. It was a close fight between mayweather and oscar and also a close fight between marquez and manny. style makes fight and mayweather has a lot of trouble against flurry offence like oscar. oscar tired out on the 6th or 7th round that is why mayweather won. if mayweather fight manny, manny will not tire out. i belive that manny can win. manny has a lot of head and footwork movement now it will be hard for mayweather to hit him. after seeing how good pacman is i believe that pacman will ko marquez if they ever have a third fight. it won't be in the second round like hatton but pacman will ko marquez out later in the rounds... made the best man win if they ever fight...

Floyd mayweather jr. might defeat all your fillipino greats wihout breaking a sweat.who're those human beings. Pacioua is your basically fighter so delight in it on a similar time because it final. i won't be able to attend till Floyd ultimately beats this guy just to close you pactards up.

As Knight La Barre said, it is the best offense vs the best defense. With poles apart styles, they make the boxing world beg for such an unorthodox bout.

I agree, it will be a great fight. If you are a Mayweather fan. He will drop Pac Just like he did Marquez. And IMO Pac doesnt take a punch as well as Marquez
