How to get more muscle and flexibility?

I am 16 and have terrible upper body strength, (ex. less than 10 push ups and I cant do any more) also I am not very flexible. What do u think I should do to get my upper body strength up? I do not want to go to a gym or buy anything because I would just embarrass myself. Also any ideas on how to be more flexible would be appreciated also.

- I believe I do not get muscle very easily because when I did weightlifting in PE a few years ago I did not change at all

Update:

I don't have much weight (skinny), would this stop me from gaining muscle?

well its all about motivating yourself and not giving up. you're skinny? you know what? so were half of the guys you see benching over 300 pounds in the gym.

if you can only do 10 pushups now, then do 10 pushups. take a break and do 10 more. tomorrow, force yourself to do 11. then 12 the next day and so on.

don't be embarrassed, everyone starts somewhere. i used to be fat in junior high (5'5 and 170 lbs) no muscle. i'm 21 now, 5'10 and about 180 lbs with pretty low body fat. i used to be able to do about 15 pushups and like 2 pullups. i'm able to do 85 pushups now without break, and nearly 30 pullups.

just go to your gym and hit the weights. start out low and you'll move on up eventually. if it helps, go with a friend. or hire a personal trainer. i work as a fitness trainer and have clients of all different body types and levels.

if you don't do it now, you never will. you got nothing to lose.

    good luck.
