Blackheads, they are dirt that has been trapped in your pores. Just squeeze them out, or exfoliate.

Blackheads? You need to pop them. A blackhead left alone will turn into a pimple, and if that is left unattended it will result in a scar (yes, this does happen. Plenty of my friends and family members who believe in that old wives tale about popping causing scarring all have scars and deep pits in their faces from NOT popping their blackheads/pimples)

There are different scrubs and face washes that help to prevent them. St. Ives is one that comes to mind, and it's pretty inexpensive too. Biore, on the other hand does not work very well and it's expensive. The pore strips are a gimmick. They won't take out any blackheads, but they will remove a few layers of skin! (it was left on for less than the recommended time, peeled off and raw skin was left...not a pretty site!)

If you are going to pop them, I suggest you steam your face first to open your pores. Otherwise you will have some red spots, these will stick around for about a day, but they do not result in a scar.

    Source(s): Common sense and experience!
  • That depends on what the black spots are...

Are they pores? Try the Biore strips or a face scrub.

Sun spots? Try cocoa butter or a spot diminishing cream like Ambi makes.

You could show them to your doctor and ask them what your options are.
