I had the flu in 1957-58. Will that fact protect me against the H1N1 flu?

I understand it was the same type as the H1N1. I was in bed for a few days, but I was not very sick.

    It might confer some protection.

This virus is not identical to that one and you were infected decades ago ago, so don't expect immunity.

Unless you were tested back then to confirm the strain, there is no guarantee that you even had H1N1 - There are hundreds of different strains of flu and you could have had any 1 of them.

No it would not protect you. Any feelings of discomfort with flu symptoms a doctor should be consulted.
