Special requirements for opening a paintball field?
I was wondering if there were any special requirements or licensing to open a paintball field. Does anyone know?

You need land, either your own or permission from the land owner. The land has to be zoned for it, which requires contacting the local city/county (not sure what department, though, maybe planning & public works? parks & recreation?). This will affect how near or far the field can be from homes - typically, paintball fields are only allowed in rural areas or fairgrounds. You need a business license, which is simple enough to obtain. You need insurance, which is a huge cost.

Opening a paintball field is ridicilously hard, much harder than you think. If you don't want to get totally stomped on money wise, cater to the rec players. I like speedball, but rec is the best for money wise. If you can break even, your extremely lucky. it takes a lot of time and money to run a field, goodluck.

Check with your local or state agencies.
I know you NEED liability insurance, required or not, to protect yourself if somebody gets hurt.
