Is there a way to help fight against animal cruelty without becoming a vegetarian?
I've always been against the cruel way animals are treated, but the problem is I just like meat too much...I know it sounds bad, but you can't deny it's good. I don't think eating meat is bad in general, I mean, people have always eaten animals, but if these animals are being beaten and mutilated, then that's just disgusting. I believe there's nothing wrong with eating meat (in moderation, of course) as long as the animals are raised healthily...Obviously, that's not really possible this day in age. That's just my opinion on the whole thing. But anyway!
I really want to know some things I can do to stop animal cruelty without becoming a vegetarian. Like organic brands of meat, eggs, cheese, etc. that come from "happy" animals? Stuff like that. Thank you so much!

Hunt your own animals. Contact local farmers who raise animals under safe, humane conditions. "Organic" does not guarantee "humane." You can Google some organic brand names to find out more about them (not their company websites). There are plenty of resources for "cruelty-free" (depending on one's definition of cruelty) meat, but you have to go searching for them. They're not going to be easily found.
Avoid fast food restaurants. Most other restaurants too. Lamb, Veal, Foi-Gras and the like are never cruelty-free. And stop thinking of animals as "meat." Part of the problem is that they are reduced to a product wrapped up nicely in a package. That divorces humans from the natural cycle and creates an environment for cruelty and animal exploitation.

I think that you should do your research for a while before deciding which meat to buy. Most meats or eggs that say "cage free" or "cruelty free" are actually not. If you are not sure then you can arrange a visit to the brands that you are considering and see for yourself. You can decide from there. Please do thorough research, though because you are trying to make an effort when many other people do not. However, most likely, by doing your research, you might find that you should go completely vegetarian after all. A book for you to read as a beginner to animal welfare, I would recommend: The peta practical guide to animal rights.

by eating meat you'll always be promoting that animals are ours to take and in turn humans with our selfish ways will mistreat them for personal gain.
hunt your own meat.
buy TRUE free-range dairy, know the source.
help out at local humane society
don't buy pure-breed animals, it leads to millions of animals being euthanized a year.

One thing you can do is watch Earthlings on google video.
You may be able to find a local farm where you get to buy the animal alive and then have it killed for you. You will know how it was treated and even maybe pet it.
