having trouble sorting in excel?

i am having trouble with MS Excel. i have huge file with over 500 rows and over 50 columns. i want to sort different columns from it, i.e. name, ethnicity, and math_grade, and ELA_grade, etc these columns are not next to each other. i want to find out if there is way to sort these columns rather then sort by name first then save it, then by ethnicity, save this one, and then by math.. etc.. this gives me so many different files to, when i need to compare this data i have to go back and fourth. i would greatly appreciate if you can tell me of better of doing this. i have MS excel 2003, i tried data, sort and it only gives me 3 columns to work with.

thank you!!!!!

500 rows and 50+ columns isn't huge, but as you noticed, Excel can only handle three sort keys. If you must use Excel, consider creating a sort key column that will concatenate the columns in the order you want to sort, and then sort on that column. Otherwise, use a database like Access.

You shouldn't need to sort using more than 3 keys. Try Pivottables to view your data. It makes better sense when viewed by most people.
