invited for the wrong reason (more elaborated version)?
Got invited to a kareoky party for the wrong reason?
got invited to a party by the "popular people" because this other "unpopular" guy wanted (he basically buged them to be invited, info: he dosent drive, his 26 and still dosent drive, im younger by a few years) since i give him rides alot the popular guys percieved us as "best friends" ......so the popular guys assigned me to give him a ride. i dont want to be that way, and im tired of being dubbed the other guy's personal driver. and i dount that the "popular guys" would invite me any way....
i like to have some sense of dignity of my own
so should i go or should i respectfully decline because the invitation was for the wrong reason.
im just abbit curious about the party because i dont know what they do....i would like to get invited but not for the reason above
i was assigned by one of the guys to give him a ride
should i just attend the party... and find a excuse not to pick the other guys up?

If dignity is important, then you would just refuse the invite the first time. To me, this is not an issue of dignity anymore, but the feeling of being used.
My sis had the same problem, she was invited to a party, but they required her to be the driver of a few people, because they don't want their new cars to get dirty and stuff (the place they were going to has uneven roads and kinda muddy) They didn't tell her right away, but more like 30 mins before the party. She immediately told them that something came up and she won't be going. Hey, two can play at this game, right?

This question seems exactly like the other question. Which I answered too. You should state exactly what was said to you and by whom? I mean if the host said "you can come if you drive this guy?", then NO don't go. If the guy who needs the ride said "I need a ride to this party and they say it's ok for you to come too", then NO don't go. If the host said "I'm having a party at blah blah and it would be nice if you could come?" then go and have a good time. And while you are at it start breaking the cycle of being the designated driver. I don't know how you do that anyway...don't you have a job and social commitments that make it impossible to do all the time?

Either you want to accept an invitation or you don't, but speculating as to why you were invited is pointless. If you are interested, accept and forget about the whys.
I don't understand how a party guest can be "assigned" to pick up another guest. If it's convenient for you, do it. Otherwise, contact the man well in advance and tell him you're sorry but you can't give him a lift.
It sounds like you should branch out and meet more people. This group doesn't seem to be working well for you.

Oh for Pete Sake! Your responsibility is taking care of yourself, your feelings and doing it politely. A response to an invitation does not require an explanation. Ever. Politely respond, "no thanks." Say nothing more. Stop being a driver to nowhere. Live your own life. Get a real love life. Take a vacation to Japan to see a real Karaoke party! You don't sound as though you were raised to be a door mat.
