Poll: What is the worst experience you've ever had with a pizza place?

A few years ago I was helping to get ready for a kid's birthday party. The kid's mother ordered pizzas, and when they arrived I was the one to go to the door. I brought the pizza into the kitchen and people started grabbing slices -- but when the mother came back in, she noticed that all of the pizzas were cheese, when they should have been pepperoni. Busy with other things, she asked me to call the pizza place. I did, and was transferred to a manager, who told me that it was impossible the order was wrong -- she claimed to have made the order herself and knew she couldn't possibly have made a mistake. I asked her to explain, then, why none of the pizzas has pepperoni on them.

She told me to wait and she'd drive over. I thought, hey, she's actually coming to the house just to handle a complaint -- that was pretty good service. But when she actually got there, she looked at the pizzas, and upon seeing no pepperoni, informed me that it was "obvious" that the delivery girl had taken the pepperonis off and eaten them. I thought she was joking -- but she was serious -- and at that point, I asked either for a refund or a replacement order. Three slices were gone from one pizza -- they were on plates but not eaten -- and she told me that the order was now "tampered with," so she couldn't replace them or even give us a partial refund -- even though two of the other pizzas were untouched and clearly not made according to the order.

Then came the real kicker -- she said that since the pizzas had now been "tampered with," she couldn't do anything to help, and I should take up my complaint with the delivery girl herself, who had apparently taken off the pepperoni and eaten them....although I can assure you there was never pepperoni on that pizza.

What's your horror story?

Santa Cruz. Pizza My Heart is the restaurant. I'm a freshman at UCSC. I don't yet know that the effect of shrooms, far more than a psychedelic experience, is to make me want to push my stomach out through my throat and snip it off to set the poor thing free. So I've eaten proffered shrooms from a room mate, and we go to pizza my heart. One bite o' pizza and everything I've eaten that day is fighting to see the light of day again. I haven't eaten much pizza since.

I was visiting my parents a while back and we decided to order pizza instead of cook. The delivery guy showed up, stinking of beer, handed the pizza over and attempted to charge ten dollars over what we were told when we ordered it. As he stood at the door my sister opened the box to find one slice missing and a bite taken from a slice on the opposite side of the pizza. And if that weren't enough, he began screaming obscenities while attempting to enter the house when we refused to pay, and we had to force him out of the door then called the police.

I know my parents were offered a couple free pizzas from the place, but I don't know what happened to the delivery guy.

Um, I don't think my story can match yours. :)

You win the big PEPPERONI award!

The worst story I can think of, is ordering the stadium size pizzas (they come at about 3 1/2 feet long by 2 feet wide) to feed 150 music students after a concert. We ordered 4, and they put those plastic things in the pizza to make sure the carboard lid doesn't come down on the pizza... well, it did... we opened the lid and the entire pizza/sausage top stuck to the top. Good news, they came back and replaced it. LOL

Well the one time I ordered pizza and from Dominos I found a hair in one of the slices.

Another time my aunt ordered two extra large pizzas from pizza hut and when the delivery man came she gave he two small pizzas and charged 40 something for them. My aunt got mad and didn't pay since it was the incorrect order.

It wasn't nearly as bad as yours, but I once ordered two slices from a Little Caesar's restaurant. While trying to pay, the two ladies behind the counter seemed distracted by something on the floor. One of those ladies proceeded to step on whatever was on the floor. I didn't even want to know what it was.
