What are homes and schools in Ecuador like?
Doing a mini-project in Spanish class. We have to choose a Spanish-speaking country (Ecuador for me) and find out about what their homes and schools are like and how they are similar/different then ours in America.
Examples of what we can find are...
Schools
--(classes) How many teachers do they have? How many students are there in a classroom?
--(grades) What kind of grading system is used in our assigned country?
--(uniforms) do public school students wear uniforms?
--(schedules) How many hours are they in school? Do they leave for siesta and return later in the day?
Homes
--Do most people live in hoses or apartments?
--Is it common for teenagers to have their own bedroom?

same as US 20-30 kids per class with 1 teacher
no letter grades, percentages only, same as here, just no letter.
yes, all of them.
grades 1-6 go from 7am-12:30 grades 7-12 go from 12:30pm-7:30. No they don't go home.
there are no apartments over there, everyone lives in houses.
no, unless they are rich.
tv's yes. in bedrooms no.
no school bus. you have to take the city bus or walk.

Hi I am Ecuadorian:
Schools
--(classes) How many teachers do they have? How many students are there in a classroom
There are public and private schools
Public School can have up to 60 kids in a classroom with 1 teacher
Private school can have up to 30 in a classroom with on teacher this is for elementary school wich is up to 6th grade
Once you start middle school the average of kids in the classroom is the same but you get one teacher per subject.

The grades can be 20/20 or 100/100 if you get less than 14 average in a subject or less thatn 65 you will have to take extra tests to pass.

Every school uses uniforms

They go to school between 6 and 7 hours and no we don't go home for siestas anymore. There are 3 different types of schools Matutinas ( during the morning) Vepertina Which starts after 12:00 pm and Nocturna (Night School)

Most people live in homes
--Is it common for teenagers to have their own bedroom?
Depends on the economical situation of the family if we are talking about low income no, same with the TV's depends on the income of the family.
--Do students ride a school bus or walk to school?
Because the distances are short they can walk to school, ride a bike. If you are in a private schhol, the school provide transportation and some parents drop off the kids.

Of course, you must fix on the special classroom, but that doesn't necessarily mean that you should in reality undergo with it once it has been decided upon
