Things to do in St. Petersburg, Florida?
I'm planning to go to St. Petersburg, Florida in December for a couple days because I want to go to the Salvador Dali Museum.
It's a 4 hour drive from where I live so I want to stay a couple days and enjoy the local things to do there. I am not big on tourist places, except museums, so if someone could let me know of local places to eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, places to go at night or during the day. Anything at all that is local and fun. I don't mind driving around so it doesn't matter where the places are.
Thank you :)

There are plenty of fun things to do in and around St. Petersburgh. Since you have a car, you'll be able to explore many areas. I highly recommend driving into Tampa to see the Florida Aquarium and Lowry Park Zoo. They both are excellent. The Florida Aquarium has many interesting programs to partcipate besides the exhibits. You can swim with sharks or fish, get to hold a penguin, or go on a dolphin ecotour. I took the behind-the-scenes penguin tour, and it was incredible. I was able to hold an African penguin and he was very affectionate. He brayed at me and the other people who held him. He was adorable. As for the Lowry Park Zoo, take the boat tour. It's for an hour and you'll get to see alligators and manatees. You'll learn a great deal from the knowledable tour guides.
In St. Petersburgh, there are plenty of fun sightseeing cruises you can take. Sunken Gardens and Boyd Hill Nature Park are some good places to enjoy nature in Florida. You'll do some good shopping at Wagon Wheel Flea Market (in Pinellas Park), The Pier (St. Pete), and Baywalk (more upscale shopping in St. Pete).
There are many good seafood restauarants in St. Petersburgh. Some of my favorites are Fourth Street Shrimp Store, Frenchy's Rockaway Grill, Cha Cha Cocunuts has good Mexican food at The Pier, Captain Al's is located at the Pier, too, and has excellent seafood. For breakfast, try KC's Korner Restaurant which has good eggs and coffee. Pinky's in Tampa has some delcious pancakes. Tick Toc Restaurant has more good breakfast and is located in St. Pete. Delicious pancakes and omletes.
