    To solve for q, subtract 9 from both sides of the equation:

    7q + 9 - 9 = 3 - 9

    7q = -6

    Divide both sides of the equation by 7:

    q = -6/7

    7q+9=3.

    Subtract 9 from both sides.

    7q=3-9=-6

    then divide both sides by 7.

    q=-6/7. Hope this helps!
