Cashiers check, fraud or legit?
I was recently asked to be a secret shopper and received a cashiers check for close to $3000. They said my first assignment was to go to walmart and spend some money and then wire the balance, which would be around $2500 to some guy in UT. They said to subtract the charges that it would cost me to send it and then send that total balance. Im just a little skeptical about this whole money wiring thing, so wanted to get some other opinions. Thanks

don't do it. Most secret shopping requires you to take on the assignment and you will get reimbursed once you submit the reciepts plus your payment. Report site to the Better Business Bureau.

It is a scam. No way is a stranger going to give you $500.00. Even if they wanted to, they would never send $3,000.00 instead. The check will clear initially and in a few days, after it is too late, your bank will say you owe them the whole amount. This will be because the check is a forgery.
The scammer will call over and over to get you to wire them the money before the fraud is detected. Tell them you will only send them a check, just like they did for you. Then see what happens.
WalMart would never give away $500.00 just so you can tell them if you liked the experience.
Do not let them screw you!!

Its a scam never wire money to someone you dont know. Cashiers checks are legit but people are getting better at making fraudulent ones as well.
Look at craigslist they have an entire list of reasons not to send money or accept cashiers checks

This is a very common scam. You deposit it, make a bunch of purchases, send money on. Then the check is returned unpaid, and you are OUT all the money you sent. Don't do it.
Tell them you will do it, but they need to wire you a $50 fee to pay for the wiring! :)
But of course, don't deposit the check, you will be socked with fees from your bank also.

That's a scam. When I was a secret shopper I was given a list of items to buy. Then i was reimbursed for the amount spent. Plus I got paid for the job..

That sounds like a variation of every scam out there. They all involve over paying then asking for money to be wired back to them.
ITS A SCAM
