My anus is itchy. What is this a symptom of?

This started happening about a week ago. It isn't itchy all the time, but when it does, it's pretty bad. The only things that seems to relieve the itchiness are farting, defecating, and me rubbing it. I've tried looking at it in the mirror and it seems normal. What is the problem?

The most common cause is hemorrhoids or fissures in adults.

In children it's usually pinworms (which an also affect adults but are not as common). You can also have anal warts, a fungal infection or allergies to toilet paper.

Make sure you clean yourself properly after using the bathroom.

I recommend buying some witch hazel or other product such as "Tucks" to use. See if this helps. If you are still having itching after a few weeks, you may have to see the doctor.

go to target or walgreens and get hemorrhoid cream. the itchiness is most likely due to a dryness in the area the cream will help keep the area cool and less itchy while it heals (takes about 1-2 weeks).
