Maybe I'm a bit morbid, but I've always enjoyed the myths that involved the underworld most.
My favorite has always been Sisyphus. He got over on Hades, but ended up paying for it in the end.

My favourite is the myths of the Titans, the old gods that came before Zeus, Poseidon and Hades.
Particularly, my facourite would have to be the tale of Prometheus (a titan). Prometheus took part of the flame of Olympus (which burned through all eternity) down to Earth and gave it to man. Zeus was so angry that Prometheus had done this that he chained Prometheus to a rock and cursed him (of sorts...). At dawn every day, a giant eagle would swoop down upon the titan and devour his flesh and organs. But the titan would not die, he would endure the pain eternaly. At night his body would regenerate, and he would be fully healed. Until dawn came, and then the eagle would eat again... THe cycle continued until Prometheus was rescued by Herikles (Hercules).
The story of sacrifice, You find ones just like it all the time now.
