Can i get a cigarette lighter put into my nissan micra?
it's a 2001 model, and had 1 lady owner.
the thing is, its immaculate inside, but where the cigarette lighter is, there's a black lid over it - when i take it off, the lighter part is empty. like it's been taken out - just a hollow tube.
weird.
Anyway, i don't smoke but i want to get a sat nav. and i think i need the lighter for this, other wise it can't charge / be plugged in as i'm driving.
any ideas / suggesstions?
thanks.

A lot of cars these days don't actually come with a lighter - although they have the lighter socket, they call it a "power outlet".
Here's a picture which may explain it better:

The lighter is the bit on the left - your car probably has the actual socket fitted and connected, and this is the "hollow tube" that you can see.
However, if there is just an empty hole, you can buy a complete lighter assembly from any accessory shop, and your local garage should fit it for a few quid.
Here's one for sale in Halfords:

Most cars have a ciggy lighter as an option so you may have a hole in the dash with a plastic plug in it you need to find a switched live and use it to connect the ciggy lighter to via a fuse link of the apt rating it is easier to do than explain how! I do not want to tell you to do something that might cause a fire if you can read a wiring diagram have a look at a workshop manual of a model with a lighter & use it as a referance to install your own or have a look around a breakers yard for a model with a lighter and salvage all the parts you need ! good luck
