For $1,000, that's your best bet. You're not going to find a higher performance laptop for that price. It has everything you will need for anything from Word processing to playing games.

mac = too expensive.
go with pc
1000 bucks can buy some pretty beastly hardware.
intel core 2 duo with 2gb + ram
decent size harddrive
dell or hp is your best bang for your buck. you can configure/customize it on their websites.

i have had bad experience with dell gateway and hp, but heres a good website mainly on selling computers, http://www.microcenter.com/
