Best foods for a Dove?

I adopted a Dove bird, she's beautiful and was abandoned, what is the best food I can buy for her. I have the mixed seeds, but she is very particular with which ones she eats. Any help would be appreciated.

That's great that you adopted a dove =) Doves are very beautiful creatures.

Anyways, Doves are very picky birds, they usually try and pick out their type of their likings. Just let your dove do that, eventually they will surely eat the left overs and you can pour some more in.

But naturally doves eat any type of fortified finch seed (pellets or seed based)- usually around 2-3 teaspon per day.

Now doves are also vegi and fruit eaters.

Try and chop the fruits or vegitable into bit sizes-

    Fruits- oranges, apple, melon, etc.

Vegi- broccoli, spinach, sweet potato, and shredded carrots. * you may offer vegis and frutis as a daily diet.

*Be sure you have a cuttle bone for your dove, you may carve it to tiny powder for it, or you can just leave the bone in the cage the way it is bought, What ever you decide works best.*

Make sure you have water either in bottle of bowl

*Remember that fresh food requires its own dish and should be removed from the habitat within four hours to avoid spoilage.

=) hope I helped you a bit. Ps. Doves are very very friendly birds, try teaching her some tricks here and there.

i've rescued a couple birds in the past that were on the ground and halfway killed by cats. when they are very young i mix wet cat food up with water and put it in an eye dropper. put for older birds i would keep on trying to feed her the seeds you are feeding her now.
