I need a good answer.. Bearded dragon help! EASY 10 POINTS!!?
hi, I have some things i need "cleared up". I am getting a baby bearded dragon or two and I still have some questions.
I have done ALL my research ( about 4 months worth) and I have a Male 1 1/2 year old beardie that my brother now has and I want to make sure that when i get these babies I do everything right!
so, I want to get a pair and keep them in the same tank... would that be ok? I am planning on keeping 1 or 2 in a 10 gallon for maybe a month, but probably less than that, and then making them a custom enclosure. would that be ok??
CAN I PUT 2 BEARDED DRAGONS TOGETHER??
and i also have a question about lighting.... I have a heat lamp with a basking bulb and I am planning on getting another lamp but with a EXO-TERRA REPTI GLO 10.0 COMPACT DESERT TERRARIUM LIGHT. would that be sufficient enough for their uv lighting?? cuz dont they need a basking light and another uv light? and for at night, i have a heating pad, or should i get a red light bulb? ANY GOOD SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREAT ON LIGHTING!!!
so is that all the lighting they need? those two lights?
I also have aspen bedding in the tank cuz my baby ball python used to be in there.... i was planning to use repti carpet or any other suggestions?
but anything that can help me out would be great! especially if i can keep 2 in the same tank!! PLease help me!!

Well..let me get started...
Ahem.
Two females CAN be in the same tank. Two males CANNOT.
Of course, being babies, you cannot tell if they are male or female most of the time. You can ask the store you are purchasing it from if it is. If it's a family owned store, trust them with everyone. People at Petco / petsmart are bat-shiit retarded. They feed their dragons like...2 crickets a day! They look so skinny...
Anyways..you need UVB (NOT UVA) light to stimulate sunlight and allow them to grow.
As babies, you will need PAPER TOWEL or NEWSPAPER. Since you cannot sift repti carpet (For obvious reasons) papertowel can be easily disposed of once too much poop is on it.
Heating pads are NEVVUUUURRRR. Just like heating rocks, it can burn their insides without them knowing.
For decorations, for free ones..go into your backyard. Fine a cool thick stick..make sure it isn't rotting and shake any bugs out. Same with rocks. Get a large rock and stick...fill a bathtub with water on the hottest setting and plop em in. Naturally, the stick will float, anchor it with the rock. Let that sit for an hour, after that, take them out, shake the stick like crazy if it does have holes...Now...preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Plop the rock and stick in (It won't catch on fire.) and let that sit in there for two hours. For the next little while, your kitchen will smell amazing :)
Okay...DO NOT BUY CALCIUM SAND
DO NOT BUY CALCIUM SAND
DO NOT BUY CALCIUM SAND!!!
This can cause them to overdose. Once they get big enough, say...1-2 months, you can put them on sand. Go to the local Home Depot / Rona (Stores like that) and get some play sand. You get can huge amounts for like...4 bucks...
Anyways. Put as much sand as you want, Deeper the sand, the easier it is to sift.
(sifters can be found at local Dollaramas, not the ones that arabian people own on the main street of your city.If the holes aren't big enough in a wire sifter, puncture lots of holes with a screwdriver. Be careful, the wires will be sharp. Try to bend them to your fitting.)
Calcium powder.... Cover your crickets with that. You are also going to need to spray the beardies twice a day since they don't drink water. I put the calcium powder in the water, too. And mix it up real good.
Okay...onto cricket food. They will each pretty much anything. Stand clear of banans / berries, they rot SUPER FAST and will make the room smell terrible. And remember, whatever the crickets eat, your beardy will. This can be an easy way to sneak in nutritions from foods he won't eat into his system.
NEVER FEED OR MIST BEFORE BEDTIME
Misting them before bed can make them super cold, or when they go down to sleep on the sand, it can stick to them. Which is never good.
Eating before bed can cause stomach pains, since they need time to bask. Basking is required for digestion. Without basking, they get indigestion (Stomach pains). Don't try to feed the Pepto bismol, though. Lol :P
Okay...what else...hmm...
Here is a link to nutritional info.Foods you SHOULD and SHOULDNT feed them.
Green is daily.
Black is Occasional (every other day)
Blue rare (once a week)
Yellow Questionable (Obviously, stay away from these.)
Red NEVER (can kill your dragon with one bite.)

Hi,
Two males can not ever live together as that they will fight til death. Many times even two females will not get along and one will attack the other, causing severe injury.
Males and females aren't housed together other than for a few weeks during breeding season. Housing them together all the time causes great stress on both of them... Beardies should each have their own correct sized cage...for the health and well being of the beardies. BD's need UVB, which is the special lights
that come in fluorescent tubes or special screw in bulbs
(mercury vapor)that are designed to produce uvb and heat.
The tubes do not produce heat. UVB is needed by the BD
to be able to absorb the calcium in the foods they eat.
With out the uvb, they will develop metabolic bone disease.
With the tubes, they must say that they produce BOTH uvb and
uva. The uvb needs to be 5% or higher. Repti Sun 5.0 and 10.0 are
TWO of the best uvb tubes on the market. The repti glo 8.0's are a great uvb source also. Arcadia 5.0 (UK), which is the uvb tube available in the UK is a good uvb tube.

I've housed bearded dragons together for ages. They will not fight. Males will get along just fine as long as you don't plop a third, female in with them and that's only when they are much older (2+ years).
You must, however, keep them well fed. If not, they will eventually nip a each other's tails and toes which don't grow back. Seriously feed them well and you won't have any problems housing two together.

You cannot keep 2 bearded dragons in a tank until they are 'sexed.' It is virtually impossible to sex them until they're at least 1-2 years old. The reason they can keep two or more babies at a time in a tank at the pet store is because they're always being sold, so they are constantly changing 'companions' and there is always activity around to keep them distracted, unlike at one's home. If you do put two males together one will kill the other.
In regards to the rest of the questions you really should either go to a library and get a book before you go to the pet store. These are living things and since it appears you know nothing about bearded dragons you should really educate yourself before you buy them. "Answers" is okay for the random question here and there but you need more education than could probably be provided here.
