Also, if you're not interested in her anymore texting is probably not the right way to go about it. This could lead to a long unwanted chat. If you're going to be friends with an ex, it's better to run into each other than to actually meet up or talk on purpose.

No you shouldn't. if she is your X then keep it that way. No need to be friends. You don't have to be mean Just move on. All you are doing by "staying friends" and staying in touch is prolonging the inevitable and heart ake. If you do not have any children with each other then there is know reason to stay in contact.
