xy^6+xy^8=960x , --- xy6( 1+y²)=960
xy³+xy^5=120,-------- xy³(1+y²)=120, divide
xy^6/xy³=960/120
y³=8
y=³√8
y=2
xy³+xy^5=120
x(2)³+x(2)^5=120
8x+32x=120
40x=120
x=120/40
x=3

Faça assim:
xy(3) + xy(5) = 120
xy(3)y(3) + xy(3)y(5) = 960
Logo concluimos que (1ª equação),
x (y(3) + y(5) ) = 120
x = 120 / (y(3) + y(5) )
2ª equação:
x(y)3 y(3) + x y(3) y(5) = 960
x y(3) (y(3) + y(5) ) = 960
E x vale:
x = 120 / (y(3) + y(5) )
É substituir na 2ª equação, encontramos:
y = 2 e x = 3
