Could the phone in my BMW X5 work?

I have the same exact option and buttons in my steering wheel except I have a 2005 BMW 325i. I have been told every BMW has this on there steering wheel except in some BMW's they where not activated. If your car came equipped with this option then it should work as long as you have your BMW Card which comes in the BMW handbook Manual. This card will give you a VIN and Code number to place in the car in order to activate your Bluetooth phone system. If the case is you have this option available but it was not equipped or activated in the car when first purchased by the previous owner then you may have to install it at a BMW dealer in order for it to work, of course there will be a price for the activation so be aware of that too.

Parents new 2009 bmw x5 bluetooth is really easy to set up, first of all your phone needs to have bluetooth, infrared does not work.

open your phone quadrant on your iDrive and pair the phones together you will be asked to insert a password which will be entered exactly the same when you enter it in the phone. process is complete when you see bars on the bottom right corner of the display. you will then be able to pick up calls as well as talk while you are driving without holding the phone.

BMW often like the pre-wire the cars so that you can just buy the modules and install them.

If nothing happens when you press the button you most likely don't have it. And old BMW bluetooth systems are EXTREMELY picky with phones.
