Melbourne Cup, your thoughts?
I would like to know what you think is going to win the Melbourne Cup, as for once I'm having trouble deciding what to back. I'm leaning towards Roman Emperor. Also I have been getting quite confused by people thinking Newport and Changingoftheguard and the like are a good chance of winning, as I personally rated the two as no-hopers.
So I would like to know who you think is going to win the Melbourne Cup and why. See if you can try and change my mind on a few of these horses (although highly unlikely).
Yes i'm thinking of adding Fiumicino to any exotics, his run in the Caulfield Cup was just outstanding along with his run in The Metrop. If he had Darren Beadman on board I'd be backing him to win.
I just think that Bart being the master trainer he is would have his own horse picked infront of the other horses. Also he was in Roman Emperor's car this morning at the parade.
Changingoftheguard has been scratched and Roman Emperor will have concussion plates on for the first time due to the firm track.

Looks to me like most of the field is outclassed by Viewed and Roman Emperor, I'll probably throw in Fiumicino and Zavite because they're bred to stay under our conditions.
The more I look at it, the more the race looks like the first leg of the double and the second leg of the treble on any other day in Melbourne.
Newport doesn't do much after a mile and a half except go backwards, and 50.5kg for Changingoftheguard appears a very large over-statement.
Still trying to work out if I should throw Allez Wonder into the mix, love to see Michelle Payne win The Cup (along with the old fella, of course).

Leica Ding No. 24. Won over 3000 m. Lightest on handicap. Barrier 2. Won the Geelong Cup a very good lead up race over 2406 m - ran a good time too and was running on.

go with the horse you first through of doint chane your mind you might regret it in the end i once went to royal randwick race course when i went to sydney it was a great day out good luck hope you win
