Can you make your own battery jumper cables?

And does it matter what kind of cables are used?

    use copper number 00 gauge welding cable.

    Jumper cables use large diameter wire.

    yes but at the very minimum a 4 guage wire should be used. and do not use electricians or single strand wire/cable. use multi-strand wire/cable.
