9 week old with horrible constipation?
My 9 week old has been having horrible constipation. He eats soy formula and has never had a problem with pooping until today. He strains so hard to poop and cries, but nothing comes out. I have tried Karo Syrup and it hasn't work. Now he's starting refuse his bottle. I called the pediatrician and they said to take him to the ER. I went, but didn't stay (4 hour wait) b/c there were a few people there with H1N1 and I'd rather him stay constipated than risk him dying with that. I have an appointment with his doctor tomorrow, but I was just wondering if anyone has this problem and could help me out.

Try the I Love You baby massage.
My baby has gas and I've tried that and it seemed to have worked.
Also, you can try stimulating the anus but sticking the tip of the baby thermometer inside (about the length of your pinky finger nail).
Apple juice and prune juice can help as well. But do consult the doctor before you try anything.
Best of luck.

Hope this helps you and yur lil one.
There are several things you can do for your constipated baby:
Try to give your baby extra drinks of cooled, boiled water (30-50 ml) between feeds.
Gently massage your baby's tummy in a clockwise direction after a warm bath. Some baby oil on your hands may help. Only continue if your baby seems relaxed and comfortable.
Move your baby’s legs in a cycling motion

Okay...NO JUICE...you could go the other way and diarrhea is way harder to care for than constipation. I had the same problem with my daughter when she was about that age...fortunately my sister is a pediatric nurse...she stopped at the drug store and got the children's enema's (I think they were called Fleet or something)...they are made for older babies, so she cut off a very SMALL bit, inserted the enema...and soon enough my daughter was pooping and eating like normal!

soy formula can cause severe constipation. try changed his formula to similac allimentium. its the next best thing to breast feeding. gradually switch, by mixing a little similac into the soy, then eventually do all similac. my daughter had the same problem when we switched her from regular formula to soy, but she was about 5 months old by then, we switched to natural cultures but that made her throw up cuz she was lactose and tolerant. similac worked wonders for her, and its for babies with sensitivy to protein and colic babies.

call his checklist and tell him/her what's occurring. i'm greater in touch approximately his leg than him no longer with the flexibility to poop. whilst my son had that difficulty I gave him kayro syrup, and it labored each and every time. you additionally can might desire to switched his formula to a minimum of something that's of a similar opinion with him. whether he would not like the nestle that's working for him and he gets use to the tast as you nonetheless provide it to him. My son hated the similac alimentum, yet after a at the same time as he have been given use to it. It became the terrific formula for him.

Apple juice mixed half with water. I had the same problem with my baby and his pediatric recommended that because I didn't want anything going up his butt.

Move his legs towards his belly a few times every ten mintes, also try another type of bottle. Moving his legs will get his bowel moving.
