Why do people keep saying the governor elections today will reflect the future of Obama and the Democrats?

theory: "If the Republicans win the governor races tonight, then that is a sign that the Democrats will lose some seats in congress next year."

fact: Incumbents win far more often than challengers in congressional races. That is not necessarily the case in governor races. So you can't compare the two.

also: There are more Republican up for reelection in 2010 than Democrats.

and another thing; We haven't even given the economy time to recover yet. It's been about nine months since the stimulus bill was passed.

We won't truly be able to evaluate for at least another year.

So it's premature to say the Democrats failed.

and another thing: Obama's reelection isn't until 2012!

You think people will remember something that happened 3 years ago and make their decision based on that?

those people are completely misinformed or have an agenda.

70% of Virginians have said Obama is not a factor in their vote and over 50% of VA and NJ voters approve of Obama.

Because of the 1994 revolution when the Republicans took back Congress.

The Republican Revolution or Revolution of '94 is what the Republican Party of the United States dubbed their success in the 1994 U.S. midterm elections,[1] which resulted in a net gain of 54 seats in the House of Representatives, and a pickup of eight seats in the Senate. The day after the election, Democratic Senator Richard Shelby of Alabama changed parties, becoming a Republican.

The gains in seats in the mid-term election resulted in the Republicans gaining control of both the House and the Senate in January 1995. Republicans had not held the majority in the House for forty years, since the 83rd Congress (elected in 1952) under Republican Speaker Joseph William Martin, Jr.

It made a moderate out of Bill Clinton!

Because Virgina was a red state that voted blue in 2008, if it goes back to red, then it shows that they will most likely stay red in 2010 and 2012.

New Jersey is a blue state, if a republican can win there, it shows the voters have shifted and became more conservative.

All House members are up for reelection in 2010.

Most of the new Democratic House members elected in 2008, were elected in conservative districts.

Because of the shift away from the republicans.

If people have started shifting back to being conservative again

And most americans consider themselves to be conservative.

Then most of those democrats who were elected in conservative districts, will end up losing to republican challengers in 2010.

IE: there was no fundamental shift in peoples party loyalty in 2008.

It was more a reaction to the Bush administration.

So in 2010, most people will go back to their normal voting pattern.

So the elections today, will give a good idea, if the public is going back to those old voting patterns or if people are still reacting to the Bush administration.

no be counted how the Democrats spin those elections you may wager they do be counted and now its suspected those elections are why Harry Reid reported as we communicate Obama's wellbeing care invoice in all probability will on no account be surpassed till next twelve months. If the Democrats lose in those 3 elections that's going to be a warning to Blue canines that their political futures must be interior the steadiness.

Because, if the Republicans and Conservative win the Republicans want to act like those 3 elections, that's 3 mind you, somehow 'prove' that people in the entire country don't agree with the direction Obama is taking the country. They want a talking point, a sound bite, that they will use over and over and over.

One. the state of Virginia was easily won by Obama and the last Governor was a Democrat. For Virginia to swing Republican would be a major upset.

NJ is a strong Democratic state.

The last time the Republicans won both governorships, the Republicans took over the house of Representatives in the next mid term elections.

Both these states Obama won rather easily. A win in either state would show voter dissatisfaction with Obama and bode ill for the Democrats.

Becuase they have to hype things to wig everyone out.

The real point is that one's choice of governor isn't about the federal govrenment at all.

MY vote today will be a referendum on Obama, in that we're replacing our former Representative in the House, and I intend to vote for the guy who will support Obama's policies, NOT the wing-nut who will oppose him.

But, media hype; that's what they do. People listen, then forget as soon as the next hype comes along.

It's just a test of his influence. Do people give a shyte that Obama is endorsing a certain candidate? Do you remember how no one on this earth wanted George Bush to endorse them because they were afraid it would scare off voters? This is just a test of Obama's influence over voters. Will his endorsement help or hurt the candidates.

Fact: the in power party has lost seats in every election ever except 2 (one of those was bush)

Fact: on average the party in power loses 17 seats.

Fact: Wishful thinking doesn't change facts.

Fact: I'll be linking this post next november while I laugh at you.

  • I'm sayin. We have the most popular president of all time and its unfair how they hold him unnecessarily to how these people are supposed to vote. Even so, the moderate Reps will be eating out of his hands and the crazy nazi extreme right will dissapate further into irrelevancy.
